Anesthetic management of a parturient with tuberous sclerosis for emergency cesarean section- a case report

Abstract Background Tuberous sclerosis is an autosomal dominant neurocutaneous disorder characterized by hamartoma formation in various organ systems leading to highly variable clinical presentation. These patients pose a challenge anesthesiologists due multisystem involvement. Case presentation Herein, we report the successful anesthetic management of 25-year-old parturient with tuberous who underwent emergency cesarean section view cephalopelvic disproportion. She had seizure disorder, bilateral renal angiomyolipomas, angiofibroma over cheeks, periungual fibroma on right toe, and nodular lesions near base tongue oropharynx. We opted for regional anesthesia avoid airway instrumentation, drug interaction, insult. Conclusions Anesthetic depends upon extent severity involvement organs. Careful assessment, thorough evaluation, preoperative planning are crucial dealing difficulties complications encountered during these cases.
